Our "flagship" site at stall 89, Portobello Road, where every Saturday you can come and watch us prepare paellas in the traditional style, and serve to a hungry queue of tourists and locals alike.
We start at 7:00, when we set up the stall and ready it for the day's trade. We source our chicken from Portobello Halal butcher in Portobello Road. Our vegetables come from Tony Glasgow around the corner in Powis Mews. More local you can't really get...
At 11:30 the first paella is ready, and is brought to the front of the stall, where there will inevitably be a few people waiting for the first bite. The person up front scratches through the rice to the bottom of the pan, turning it over and revealing the dark crusty soccoraet on the bottom, the tastiest part and the mark of a great paella. And the first cry of "ANYBODY HUNGRY!" sings out from the stall... and you know there are a lot of hungry people that day that will fill themselves with the generous portions of Paella Valenciana or Paella de Mariscos (seafood). You just know.
There's a lot of singing and dancing that goes on... and this is inside the stall... This is a sight one can only behold in London; a South African, a Spaniard, a Greek and a Jamaican producing quality Spanish food in an English street. This is why this city is so wonderful.
You always get served with a knowing smile; knowing you're about to enjoy a fantastic dish of paella. Come down any Saturday and try for yourself...
